Bangladesh Employers’ Federation (BEF), with technical assistance from the Labour Administration and Working Conditions (LAWC)
Cluster of the ILO Country Office for Bangladesh, organized an advocacy session on the Roadmap for Promoting
Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) and Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) in the
Pharmaceutical sector on 20 May 2026, at MCCI’s Conference Hall, Motijheel, Dhaka.
The initiative was supported under the Team Europe Initiative (TEI)—a joint effort of the European Union,
Denmark, the Netherlands, and Sweden—on Decent Work in Bangladesh.
Objective
The advocacy session aimed to raise awareness among pharmaceutical sector stakeholders on the importance of integrating
RBC and HRDD into business operations.
Key Remarks & Facilitation
Mr. Md. Saidul Islam, Additional Secretary-General, BEF, delivered the welcome remarks and emphasized the importance
of RBC and HRDD in strengthening sustainable business practices and enhancing the competitiveness of Bangladeshi enterprises
in global markets. The session was facilitated by Mr. Muhammad Habibur Rahman, Assistant Secretary-General (Legal Affairs), BEF.
Closing
Mr. Md. Saidul Islam concluded the session by summarizing the key takeaways and delivering the vote of thanks, recognizing
the valuable contributions of all participants.
A total of 23 participants, including 18 male and 5 female representatives from
15 different pharmaceutical companies, attended the session.
