BEF Organized a 2-day Long Capacity-Building Training on Understanding the legal framework of BLA and ILS: Integrating Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) and Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD)

The Labour Law and Regulatory Affairs Cell of the Bangladesh Employers’ Federation (BEF), with technical support from the International Labour Organization (ILO) Country Office for Bangladesh, hosted a two-day capacity-building training on “Understanding the Legal Framework of BLA and ILS: Integrating Responsible Business Conduct and Human Rights Due Diligence.” The event took place from 19–20 September 2026 at the Conference Hall of the Chittagong Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CWCCI) in Agrabad, Chattogram. This initiative was supported under the Team Europe Initiative (TEI) on Decent Work in Bangladesh—a joint effort funded by the European Union, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Sweden.

The training aimed to deliver comprehensive insight into the Bangladesh Labour Act (BLA) and International Labour Standards (ILS), clarifying their practical implications for both employers and workforce management. The training equipped business leaders, industrial stakeholders, and HR professionals with actionable tools to harmonize national legal obligations with global human rights standards and responsible business practices.

Mr. Muhammad Habibur Rahman, Assistant Secretary-General (Legal Affairs) at BEF, served as the Lead Trainer, leading in-depth technical sessions throughout the workshop.

Mr. Joha Jamilur Rahman, Head of Training at BEF, inaugurated the program by sharing the outline, objectives, and expected outcomes. He later wrapped up the two-day event by summarizing core learnings and defining strategic next steps.

A total of 20 participants, representing HR, Administration, and Compliance functions from 12 different companies, including GPH, BSRM, Evercare, Singer, KDS, Ispahani, and other enterprises, attended the training.
