BEF HELD CAPACITY-BUILDING SESSION ON LABOUR LAW SELF-AUDITING TOOLS FOR EMPLOYERS

The Labour Law and Regulatory Affairs Cell of the Bangladesh Employers’ Federation (BEF), with technical assistance from the International Labour Organization (ILO) Country Office for Bangladesh, organized a capacity-building session on Labour Law Self-Auditing Tools for Employers on 8 September 2026 at the MCCI Conference Hall in Motijheel, Dhaka.

Supported under the Team Europe Initiative on Decent Work in Bangladesh, the session focused on strengthening employers’ practical capacity to assess labour law compliance through the use of self-auditing tools. The tool enables enterprises to systematically review workplace practices against applicable provisions of the Bangladesh Labour Act (BLA) and Bangladesh Labour Rules (BLR), identify compliance gaps and potential risks, and develop appropriate corrective measures.

BEF Additional Secretary-General Mr. Md. Saidul Islam delivered the welcome address. Mr. Mahfuzur Rahman Bhuiyan, Labour and Workplace Relations Adviser, BEF, conducted sessions on key provisions of the Bangladesh Labour Act and their practical implications for enterprises, including a demonstration and hands-on exercises on using the self-auditing tool.

The interactive session concluded with a question-and-answer segment. A total of 19 participants from BEF member organizations, the National Association of Small and Cottage Industries of Bangladesh (NASCIB), Industry Skills Councils (ISCs), and other associations, attended the session.
