BEF Organized a capacity building training on “Understanding the Legal Framework of BLA and ILS: Integrating Responsible Business Conduct and Human Rights Due Diligence

Labour Law and Regulatory Affairs Cell of BEF, with technical assistance from the Labour Administration and Working Condition Cluster (LAWC) of the ILO Country Office for Bangladesh, organized a two-day capacity building training on “Understanding the Legal Framework of BLA and ILS: Integrating Responsible Business Conduct and Human Rights Due Diligence” during May 12-13, 2026 at the MCCI’s Conference Hall, Motijheel, Dhaka. The initiative was supported under the Team Europe Initiative (TEI) – a joint effort of the European Union, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Sweden – on Decent Work in Bangladesh.

 

The training highlighted Bangladesh Labour Act (BLA), International Labour Standards (ILS), and their linkage with Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) and Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD).

Mr. Farooq Ahmed, Secretary-General and CEO, BEF gave a welcome speech at the training event which was conducted by Mr. Muhammad Habibur Rahman, Assistant Secretary-General (Legal Affairs) and Mr. Joha Jamilur Rahman, Head of Training, BEF respectively.

Mr. Joha Jamilur Rahman also concluded the session by summarizing the key takeaways, outlining the way forward, and extending a vote of thanks, acknowledging the valuable contributions of all participants.

A total of 19 participants attended the training, including 18 males and 01 female, representing BEF member firms from HR, administration, compliance, and legal affairs, as well as independent legal practitioners engaged in labour law, ILS, RBC, and HRDD.
