The Labour Law and Regulatory Affairs Cell of the Bangladesh Employers’ Federation (BEF), with technical support from the International Labour Organization (ILO) Country Office for Bangladesh, hosted a workshop on “Developing Sector-Specific Guideline to Promote RBC and HRDD” for the Agro-Processing Sector. The event took place on 23 September 2026 at MCCI’s Motijheel Office, Dhaka. The initiative was supported under the Team Europe Initiative (TEI) – a joint effort of the European Union, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Sweden – on Decent Work in Bangladesh.

The workshop aimed to engage enterprises from the agro-processing sector in building a common awareness of Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) and Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD), and to co-create the framework and content of sector-specific RBC/HRDD guidelines with enterprise representatives, ensuring the guidance reflects practical, sector-relevant tools and priorities rather than being developed in isolation.

Mr. Md. Saidul Islam, Additional Secretary-General, BEF, gave the welcome remarks during the opening session. Mr. Mahmudul Islam Khan, Senior Programme Officer, ILO Dhaka Office, delivered a key presentation during the session, while Mr. Joha Jamilur Rahman, Head of Training at BEF, served as the moderator, leading in-depth technical sessions throughout the workshop and wrapping up the event by summarizing core learnings and defining strategic next steps.

A total of 23 representatives from the agro-processing sector, representing 8 different companies, attended the workshop.
