Bangladesh Employers’ Federation (BEF), in collaboration with the ProGRESS Project of ILO, Country Office for Bangladesh, organized and conducted a daylong “Technical Workshop on Skills Need Anticipation and Employment Support Service in Bangladesh” on 26th May 2024 at its Motijheel office. This technical workshop aimed to gain a comprehensive understanding of Bangladesh’s existing Skills Need Anticipation (SNA) system and Employment Support Services (ESS). By doing so, we sought to identify potential collaborations that can significantly amplify their impact. This workshop’s findings will be used to develop targeted interventions that bridge the skills gap and improve training effectiveness, leading to a more qualified workforce
Mr. Saidul Islam, Additional Secretary-General, Bangladesh Employers’ Federation (BEF) welcomed the guests and participants to attend the session. Mr. Pedro Jr. Bellen, Chief Technical Advisor, ProGRESS Project, ILO Country Office, shared the objectives and immidiate outcomes of this workshop. Mr. Tahmid Ahmed, Vice President, BEF, made his opening statement.
Mr. Pedro Jr. Bellen, CTA, delivered a presentation on the Employment Support Service (ESS) System- global best practice. Subsequently, a plenary discussion on an integrated SNA and ESS System for Bangladesh with participants took place which had been jointly moderated by Mr. A.N.M. Tanjel Ahsan, National Program Officer, ProGRESS project of ILO and Mr. Joha Jamilur Rahman, Head of Training, BEF. A total of 30 participants (Female-02, Male-28) including BTEB, Industry Skills Council (ISC), a2i, NGO’s, ILO Specialists, and Corporate Leaders that are also members of BEF attended the program.
