Bangladesh Employers’ Federation (BEF), in collaboration with the ProGRESS Project of ILO, Country Office for Bangladesh, organized and conducted a 2-day long “Training on Quality Apprenticeship System in Bangladesh” on 26-27 January 2026 at the Conference Hall, Chittagong Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CWCCI), Agrabad, Chattogram. The objectives of the program were to promote the Apprenticeship System in Bangladesh while facilitating knowledge exchange regarding quality apprenticeship systems. In addition, it promoted building the capacity of practitioners to deliver apprenticeships that adhere to Competency-Based Training & Assessment methods, including the use of the Competency Skills Log Book (CSLB).
Mr. Joha Jamilur Rahman, Head of Training, BEF and ANM Tanjel Ahsan, Senior Program Officer, ProGRESS project of ILO, served as the facilitators for the training. They conducted the session by outlining the objectives and expected outcomes, employing participatory methods to engage attendees throughout the discussions. A summary of the discussions and a proposed way forward were also presented by ILO.
In the opening session, Mr. G.A. Rayhan, CEO of CWCCI and Md. Wasfi Tamim, Programme Officer, Private Sector Engagement, ProGRESS Project of ILO shared their insights and perspectives of apprenticeship program with the attendees.
The session attracted a diverse group of 26 participants, fairly split between 06 females and 20 males, representing various industry sectors. This collaborative effort underscored the importance of engaging multiple stakeholders in shaping an effective apprenticeship system that would meet the needs of both employers and the workforce in Bangladesh.
