Bangladesh Employers’ Federation (BEF), in collaboration with the Labour Administration and Working Conditions Cluster of the ILO Country Office for Bangladesh, organized a Consultation Workshop on Good Practices and Challenges in applying BLA and ILS on 03 August 2025 at the MCCI’s Gulshan office, Dhaka. This initiative is supported under the Team Europe Initiative (TEI) – a joint effort of the European Union, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Sweden – on Decent Work in Bangladesh.
Mr. Md. Saidul Islam, Additional Secretary-General, BEF, opened the session by welcoming the participants and emphasizing the importance of aligning national labour practices with the Bangladesh Labour Act (BLA) and International Labour Standards (ILS). He also actively facilitated the breakout discussions during the workshop, encouraging productive dialogue among stakeholders.
Mr. Muhammad Habibur Rahman, Assistant Secretary General (Legal Affairs), BEF, provided an overview of the workshop’s objective, BEF’s role in the reporting process, and the expectations from representatives of BEF member firms. This was followed by a brief presentation from Ms. Chayanich Thamparipattra, Project Technical Officer at the ILO, offering context and background on the issues addressed. The workshop also featured an interactive group work session.
Mr. Saidul Islam concluded the workshop by summarizing key insights shared during the group sessions, outlining next steps, and thanking participants for their valuable contributions.
The workshop was attended by 28 participants (03 female and 25 male) representing various sectors and associations of BEF member organizations.
