The Labour Law and Regulatory Affairs Cell (LLRAC) of the Bangladesh Employers’ Federation (BEF), with technical assistance from the International Labour Organization (ILO) Country Office for Bangladesh, organized a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on the “Inception Study on the Use of Technology to Strengthen Labour Law Compliance in Bangladesh’s Garment Sector” on 2 September 2026 at the MCCI Conference Hall, Motijheel, Dhaka.
The FGD was part of an ILO inception study under the Team Europe Initiative (TEI) on Decent Work in Bangladesh, supported by the European Union, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Sweden. The discussion explored technology-based solutions to strengthen labor rights compliance, focusing on key compliance challenges, existing practices, gaps, and opportunities.
Mr. Md. Saidul Islam, Additional Secretary-General, BEF, delivered the opening remarks and welcomed the participants to the discussion. Ms. Jordyn Arndt, Senior Manager & Consultant – Business & Human Rights, ESG, Corporate Responsibility, Due Diligence & Stakeholder Engagement, and Ms. Chayanich Thamparipattra, Technical Specialist, ILO Dhaka Office, actively engaged with the participants during the discussion and took note of the key recommendations, practical experiences, challenges, and proposed solutions shared by the participating RMG enterprises.
Mr. Md. Saidul Islam, Additional Secretary-General, BEF, concluded the event with a vote of thanks to the participants for their fruitful contribution to the FGD.
A total of 31 representatives from BGMEA, BKMEA, BEPZA, and garment and knitwear enterprises attended the FGD.
