BEF Conducted Consultation Workshop with the Tea Sector on Promoting Tea Tourism

Bangladesh Employers’ Federation (BEF), in collaboration with the ProGRESS Project of ILO, Country Office for Bangladesh, organized and conducted a daylong “Consultation Workshop with the Tea Sector on Promoting Tea Tourism” on 28 April 2025 at Conference Hall, Grand Sultan Tea Resort & Golf, Sreemangal, Moulvibazar. The objective of the session was to enhance understanding among participants regarding the current landscape of Tea tourism in Bangladesh. In addition, the aim was to identify priority areas for action with a roadmap and to increase awareness of the importance of addressing the challenges of tea tourism in Bangladesh.

Mr. Moslem Uddin Khan, Asst. Secretary-General, moderated the event. He facilitated the session by outlining the objectives and expected outcomes, employing participatory methods to engage attendees throughout the discussions. A summary of the discussions and a proposed way forward were also presented by him.

Mr. Nabin Karna, Technical Officer, Enterprise Development, ProGRESS Project, ILO Country Office for Dhaka chaired the inaugural session, welcoming participants and reiterating the session’s objectives. Mid-level managers from different tea-gardens from Sylhet region and representatives from organizations working on tea tourism actively participated in the discussions, sharing their insights and perspectives.

A total of 23 participants (Female-01, Male-22) including employers, workers organization, employees of tea sector, participated in the session. This collaborative effort highlighted the importance of promoting tea tourism in Bangladesh..
