BEF Drives Change for a More Equitable Work Environment

Bangladesh Employers’ Federation (BEF), in collaboration with the ProGRESS Project of ILO, Country Office for Bangladesh, organized and conducted a daylong “Awareness Raising Session on Gender Friendly Environment at Workplace” on 11th September 2024 at the Conference Hall of the Rangamati Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sadar Road, Rangamati. This session aimed to build awareness of both the employers and employees in the areas of gender equity, gender equality, gender demand, gender role and Gender Based Violence (GBV). In the session, it was sought to sensitize employers about gender benefits of providing skilled job opportunities for women, promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment for harassment free workplace in order to increase productivity. The session also focused on the role of employers on gender issues in accordance with Bangladesh Labour Act 2006.

Mr. Asif Ayub, Joint Secretary-General, Bangladesh Employers’ Federation (BEF) welcomed the participants and conducted the session. He also shared the objectives and expected outcomes of the event.

Mr. Md. Jahiruddin, Director, Rangamati Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Ms. Monowara Begum, President, Rangamati Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry attended the session as the Chief Guest and Special Guest respectively and made introductory remarks. A total of 26 participants (Female-14, Male-12) including employers and employees from Tourism, ICT, Care and Agro-Based sectors attended the session.
