Labour Law and Regulatory Affairs Cell of BEF, with technical assistance from the Labour Administration and Working Condition Cluster (LAWC) of the ILO Country Office for Bangladesh, organized a day-long Policy dialogue (Training) on Bangladesh Labour (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025 on January 6, 2026, at the MCCI’s Conference Hall, Motijheel, Dhaka. The initiative was supported under the Team Europe Initiative (TEI) – a joint effort of the European Union, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Sweden – on Decent Work in Bangladesh.
The overall objectives of the dialogue were to provide updated knowledge of the Bangladesh Labour (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025 recently published by the Government of Bangladesh, to develop skills in identifying and applying the relevant provisions of the Ordinance in addressing compliance issues related to industrial relations and to consolidate employers’ perspectives to inform evidence-based policy advocacy with relevant stakeholders.
The program was facilitated by Mr. Muhammad Habibur Rahman, Assistant Secretary-General (Legal Affairs), BEF who focused on the latest amendments to the Bangladesh Labour Act, 2006, addressing practical challenges arising from the revised legal framework.
Mr. Md. Saidul Islam, Additional Secretary-General (Legal Affairs), BEF concluded the session by summarizing the key takeaways, outlining the way forward, and extending a vote of thanks, acknowledging the valuable contributions of all participants. A total of 26 participants attended the dialogue, including 23 males and 03 females, representing BEF member firms from HR, administration, compliance, and legal affairs.
