Legal Framework of BLA & ILS: RBC & HRDD Integration

Course Objectives: Overall objective of the training is to enhance knowledge of BEF’s members, on legal requirements relevant to BLA & ILS and their linkage to RBC as well as HRDD. The specific objectives of the Training are as follows:

  • Provide comprehensive knowledge of the Bangladesh Labour Act (BLA) and its implications for employers and employees.
  • Educate participants on International Labour Standards (ILS) and their relevance to labor practices in Bangladesh.
  • Introduce the concepts of Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) and Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) in the context of the Bangladesh labor market.
  • Equip participants with practical tools and techniques to implement and comply with legal and ethical standards in their organizations.

  • Key concepts of ILS, RBC and HRDD: Scope and relevance of International Labour Standards (ILS), overview of International Labour Standards (ILS), RBC and HRDD along with the importance of compliance of these legal instruments in ensuring sustainable and ethical business practice
  • Identifying Challenges and Gaps: Common compliance gaps under BLA and ILS in enterprises and barriers to implementing RBC and HRDD in the Bangladeshi business context. Challenges faced by employers in meeting buyers’ codes of conduct and due diligence requirements.
