Bangladesh Employers’ Federation (BEF), in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO), hosted a comprehensive workshop titled ‘Promoting Green Jobs and Just Transition in Bangladesh: Private Sector Perspectives’ on November 18, 2023, at its office in Gulshan, Dhaka.
The workshop objectives were to enhance understanding of green and just transition in Bangladesh, focusing on the potential creation of green jobs. The event sought to create awareness and understanding among private sector entities, encouraging the adoption of sustainable business practices and technologies. It emphasized the urgency of climate financing and the engagement of both government and private sector enterprises in the pursuit of a resilient and environmentally conscious future.
Mr. Farooq Ahmed, Secretary-General & CEO, Bangladesh Employers’ Federation (BEF), welcomed the guests and participants to attend the session. Mr. Tahmid Ahmed, Vice-President, BEF shared the present scenario of green jobs and just transition of Bangladesh. Mr. Saif Moinul Islam, Sr. Program officer, ILO presented the key notes on Private sector perspective: promoting green jobs and just transition in Bangladesh.
Dr. Melita Mehjabeen, Professor, IBA, University of Dhaka moderated the workshop. The session concluded with a wrap-up and closing remarks from BEF and ILO. 47 participants (Female-13 & Male-34) attended the program.
